U-M Head Coach Jon Urbanchek
On the team's performance ... "We've had some really good performances and the guys did fairly well in the 500-yard freestyle. I was pleased with Tony Kurth's performance this morning in the medley relay, and entering the meet that was an event we were hoping to move up in."
On the 500-yard freestyle ... "Dan (Ketchum) hasn't been feeling that well today, but he was still able to move up two spots in the 500-yard freestyle after finishing seventh last year. Brendan (Neligan) posted a personal best and swam how we expected. As for Andrew (Hurd), the Canadian guys are all a little tired after competing in a national event this last week, so they've been going hard for eight or nine days now."
On Friday's races ... "We need Dan (Ketchum) back 100 percent tomorrow because the 200-yard freestyle is his event. It will be fun to see if Tim (Siciliano) can go for number four in the 400-yard individual medley. We have quite a few guys swimming tomorrow and we're hoping for some good performances."

The lineup for Michigan on Friday should feature competitors in seven of the eight events. Although Michigan won't have a team competing in the 200-yard medley relay, seven different individuals will represent the Maize and Blue, led by three-time NCAA champion Tim Siciliano in the 400-yard individual medley and Big Ten champion Dan Ketchum in the 200-yard freestyle. Other Wolverines scheduled to compete on Friday are Tony Kurth (100-yard butterfly), Jeff Hopwood (100-yard breaststroke), Jordan Watland (100-yard backstroke) and Jason Coben (three-meter diving), while Ketchum will join Brendan Neligan, Andrew Hurd and Garrett Mangieri in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
With a fifth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Dan Ketchum now owns four All-America honors. Two of the awards have come in the 500-yard freestyle, while the other two occurred last year in the 200-yard freestyle and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
The 400-yard medley relay earned All-America Honorable Mention. The award is the third for Tony Kurth, Garrett Mangieri and Jordan Watland, while Jeff Hopwood has earned the honor twice. Hopwood also has two All-America awards to his name, while Mangieri has one.
