Hesselink, Bauer Pace Michigan Harriers at EMU Classic

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Representing the No. 6-ranked Unversity of Michigan men's cross country team, fifth-year senior Ryan Hesselink (Freeport, Mich./Thornapple-Kellogg HS) and sophomore/freshman Andrew Bauer (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Lahser HS) claimed top-10 finishes at the EMU Classic on Friday (Oct. 24). The annual non-scoring race hosted by Eastern Michigan University featured a pack of 80 runners.
Hesselink led the Wolverines across the finish line, placing eighth with a season-best 25:34, while Bauer finished a few paces behind, posting a time of 25:41 to round out the top 10. The Wolverines boasted three additional runners in the top 20 with sophomore/freshman Dan Murray (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice HS) taking 13th with a personal-best time of 25:46, freshman Ethan Brown (Lowell, Mass./Lowell HS) earning 16th place at 25:58, also a personal best, and sophomore/freshman Todd Iacovelli (Kailua, Hawaii/Punahou HS) claiming 17th place with a time of 25:59.
The Wolverines will be back in action at the Big Ten Conference Championships on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m. in East Lansing, Mich.
