PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan junior forward Mychal Turpin (Pontiac, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit HS) was named Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today (Monday, Sept. 29). Turpin became the first player in Big Ten history to net two career four-goal games as he led the Wolverines to a 6-1 road victory over Bowling Green last Sunday (Sept. 28). All of Turpin's four goals came in a 24-span in the second half of play.

Turpin not only set the Big Ten mark for four-goal games, he also became the Michigan leader in career goals scored (23) and career points (56). His four tallies increased his 2003 total to 10, which ties the program mark for goals in a season. Last year, both he and Cameron found the back of the net 10 times.
Through nine games this season, Turpin has posted 21 points (10 goals and one assist), leaving him just four points shy of the all-time Michigan mark for points in a season. In 2002, both he and Mike White (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) posted 25 points during the 20-game season.
The Wolverines (6-3) head to Rochester, Mich., for a non-conference friendly with intrastate rival and No. 12-ranked Oakland University Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 30). Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. on the OU Soccer Field.
