Wolverines Ranked 23rd in Final NSCAA Coaches Poll

MISSION, Kan. -- In the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll of the 2004 season, released today (Tuesday, Dec. 14), the University of Michigan men's soccer team pushed its way back into the top 25. The Wolverines finished the season ranked 23rd nationally.
A total of four Big Ten Conference schools were included in the final poll of the season. Indiana topped the list after winning its second consecutive NCAA championship. No. 16 Ohio State and No. 20 Penn State were also among the teams listed. The Big Ten's four representatives tied for the most teams in the final poll with the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big East Conference.
Michigan finished the season with an 11-8-4 overall record and a 1-4-1 mark in Big Ten play. The Wolverines advanced to the second round of the NCAA College Cup before being eliminated from the tournament.
U-M's final season ranking marks the second straight year the Wolverines have made an appearance in the final poll of the season. The Wolverines finished the 2003 season ranked seventh nationally after advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament.
