Wilson Selected Big Ten Conference Pitcher of the Week

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- As announced earlier today (Tuesday, Feb. 22) by the Big Ten Conference office, University of Michigan softball hurler Lorilyn Wilson (Salem, Ore./Sprague HS) was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 0.60 earned run average this past weekend at the FAU Classic in Boca Raton, Fla.

For the weekend, Wilson struck out 19 and walked nine, allowing just one run on three hits in 11.2 innings of work while earning tournament MVP recognition. The sophomore is 2-0 for the season and 10-0 for her Michigan career. Michigan (8-1) went 5-0 over the weekend to claim the FAU Classic title for the second straight season and run its win streak to eight.
Wilson and the rest of the No. 8/9 Michigan softball team face their stiffest challenge of the season this weekend (Feb. 25-27) at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. Considered the premier non-conference tournament in college softball, the 24-team Leadoff Classic features 11 teams ranked among the nation's top 25 by either the NFCA/USA Today or ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
Michigan opens pool play on Friday (Feb. 25) vs. South Carolina at 2:30 p.m.
