Maynard Regionally Qualifies in Discus at Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- University of Michigan women's track and field sophomore Bridgette Maynard (Madison, Mich./Bishop Foley) had an NCAA Regional qualifying standard in the discus with a third-place finish of 158-6 to lead the Wolverines at the Sea Ray Relays on Friday and Saturday (April 15-16) at the Tom Black Track.

Senior Tara Kennedy (Woodhaven, Mich./Woodhaven) took sixth place in the open hammer throw with a toss of 157-10, while senior/junior Jessica Wagner (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) had a personal best in the 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 4:37.09 for first place in her section and 17th overall.

On Saturday senior Ashley Eckel (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) took 14th in the shot put with a toss of 42-9 3/4, while Maynard placed 15th with a toss of 42-9.

The Wolverines return to the state of Michigan to compete in the EMU Twilight Saturday (April 23) in Ypsilanti, Mich.
