Michigan Sends Three Runners to EMU Classic

DEXTER, Mich. -- The 18th-ranked University of Michigan men's cross country team sent three runners to the the EMU Classic on Friday (Oct. 20). All three harriers ran unattached in the 10,000-meter race, which was held at the Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich.
On a day with beautiful course conditions, freshman Ciaran O'Lionaird (Cork, Ireland/De La Salle) had a very strong showing, taking fifth-place overall with a time of 32:19. O'Lionaird ran the same course earlier this year at the Michigan Open (Sept. 1), and was able to improve on his time by 44 seconds. Junior/sophomore Mark Pokora (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) rounded out the top ten with a time of 33:01.
Sophomore/freshman Mike Luginbill (Troy, Mich./Troy) saw his first action of the year, finishing 45th overall with a mark of 35:49.
Next week, the Wolverines travel to Bloomington, Ind., to participate in the Big Ten Championship on Sunday (Oct. 29) at 11:30 a.m. The 8,000-meter meet will be held at the IU Cross Country Championship Course.
