U-M Schedule Features Hosting of Western Championship

2007 U-M Water Polo Schedule
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 2007 University of Michigan women's water polo schedule was released today (Nov. 16), and features three tournaments hosted at U-M. The Wolverines will host the Michigan Kick-Off on Jan. 27-28, the Wolverine Invitational on March 17-18, and the CWPA Western Division Championship on April 21-22. U-M's road slate is highlighted with three trips to the western U.S., including a Feb. 27 match at Hawaii.
To open the 2007 season, Michigan welcomes Colorado State, Indiana, Marist, Michigan State and Slippery Rock to the two-day Michigan Kick-Off at Canham Natatorium. The Maize and Blue then heads on the road for three consecutive weekends, beginning with the Triton Invitational on Feb. 10-11 at the University of California-San Diego's Canyonview Aquatic Center. The following weekend, the Wolverines travel east for Maryland's Terrapin Invitational on Feb. 17-18.
Michigan's spring break trip concludes the month of February, as U-M heads west for a slew of contests. The trip begins with a match at perennially top-10 ranked Loyola Marymount on Feb. 22, followed by a jaunt to Irvine, Calif., for the Anteater Invitational on Feb. 24-25. Michigan closes out its spring-break training with a trip to Honolulu to take on Hawaii on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
The Wolverines return home for their second home weekend, hosting the Wolverine Invitational at Canham Natatorium. The competition includes Brown, Cal Lutheran, Gannon, Grove City, Indiana, Loyola Marymount, Mercyhurst, Michigan State, Slippery Rock and Wagner. The next weekend, Michigan heads to Erie, Pa., for six CWPA league games on March 24-25.
For the first time since 2003, the Wolverines travel to Arizona for the ASU Invitational on March 31-April 1 in Tempe, Ariz., and in its final regular-season road trip, U-M plays a pivotal CWPA league game at Indiana on April 6, followed by the Fluid Four, April 7-8, in Bloomington, Ind.
The Wolverines look to claim their sixth straight division championship, hosting the CWPA Western Division Championship on April 21-22 at Canham Natatorium. After traveling to Providence, R.I., for last season's Eastern Championship, Michigan heads east once again, this time to Princeton, N.J., in search of the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This2007 NCAA Tournament will be hosted at Long Beach State in Los Alamitos, Calif., from May 11-13.
