
Wolverines Have Productive Day Against OSU and MSU

BELLEVILLE, Mich. -- The University of Michigan rowing team hosted its second event of the fall season on Sunday (Oct. 7) against Ohio State and Michigan State on Belleville Lake. The crews split into two flights and each competed in five races.
Each of the five pieces was set at five minutes with a maximum stroke rating of 25 strokes per minute.
The Wolverines, Buckeyes and Spartans raced two boats apiece in the first flight. U-M's top two eights had even lineups. Exact finishes were not kept, but Michigan's boats consistently took first or second during the five races.
The second flight featured one eight for U-M, OSU and MSU. Ohio State and Michigan State also raced fours. Michigan's eight won two events, including the third race by a full length. U-M tied with MSU in a third race and finished second to the Spartans in two more. Ohio State was third in each of the five races.
Michigan's next event is the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta in Boston, Mass., on Sunday, Oct. 21.
