To be nominated for the Academic All-America team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore starter or significant reserve on her team with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. As a first-team all-district selection Bohard joins the pool for Academic All-America honors. The announcement of the national team is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Bohard, a biomedical engineering major, has started nine times this season and appeared in 16 contests. She has set career highs in shots (18), assists (3) and points (5) in 2007. She made her first career start count against Miami (Ohio), netting the game-winning goal and adding an assist on another score. Bohard earns her second nod from CoSIDA following a 2006 second team award.
Cottrell is seeking a graduate degree from U-M's School of Public Health with a focus on health management and policy after earning a bachelor's degree in sport management. Serving as captain for the second time, Cottrell has spent every minute of Michigan's season on the backline. She was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week (Oct. 9) after registering her first career point -- an assist -- on the game-tying goal against Indiana. This is Cottrell's third CoSIDA Academic All-District IV award; she earned first team accolades in 2006 and second team in 2005.
Michigan closes its 2007 campaign with an intrastate showdown with Michigan State on Friday (Nov. 2). The game is slated for 7 p.m. on the U-M Soccer Field.
