FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Senior co-captain Nicole Edwards(Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey) of the University of Michigan women's track and field team beat her own U-M indoor mile on day one of the Tyson Invitational Friday (Feb. 15) at Randal Tyson Indoor Track. Edwards' NCAA Automatic Qualifying time of 4:33.23 in the mile is the best collegiate time in the nation this season and a personal best.
Junior Geena Gall(Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) achieved an NCAA Automatic mark in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.37. Gall's time is the best collegiate time in the event this season and a personal record.
Grad/senior Lisa Uible(Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) earned a personal best in the mile run (4:57.67), beating her prior best time by over a second. Uible placed fifth in the event.
Freshman Kaitlyn Peale(Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) came in eighth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:57.27.
Freshman Danielle Tauro(Manahawken, N.J./Southern Regional), running the mile in 4:53.33, missed an NCAA Qualifying time by five seconds.
The Wolverines return for the second and final day of action at the Tyson Invitational Saturday (Feb. 16) at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track. Competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. CST.
