YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Senior Samantha Smith(South Lyon , Mich./South Lyon) and freshman Jennifer Neville(Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) each earned top places in sprinting events Saturday (Feb. 16) at the EMU Classic at the Bob Parks Track.
Competing in the 60-meter hurdles, Smith came in third with an 8.81, a season-best time for the multi-event athlete. In the high jump, Smith cleared a 5-0 1/4 to finish in seventh place. She jumped a season best eighth place, 17-7 finish in the long jump.
Neville, running in the 400-meter dash, placed second with a time of 57.40 for second place.
Sophomore Carly Schiffer(Ovid, Mich./Ovid-Elsie) led the Wolverine pole vaulters with a sixth place height of 11-5 3/4
The Wolverines will host the Silverston Invitational Saturday (Feb. 23) at the U-M Indoor Track Building. Action begins at 9 a.m.
