ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 5-ranked University of Michigan softball team's non-conference game scheduled for Tuesday (April 1) at Western Michigan has been cancelled due to inclement weather and wet grounds. It is unlikely that the game will be rescheduled.
The Wolverines lost two additional games to the weather earlier this season when rain forced a reworking of the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational (Feb. 15-17) schedule and ultimately eliminated the tournament's bracket playoffs and championship game.
The Wolverines (29-3, 4-0 Big Ten) will proceed with their Wednesday (April 2) home opener against Bowling Green at Alumni Field in the recently completely Wilpon Baseball and Softball Complex. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
Michigan will also host back-to-back weekend Big Ten series against Iowa and Illinois at Alumni Field. U-M will face the Hawkeyes on Friday (April 4) at 4 p.m. and Saturday (April 5) at noon, before squaring off against the Illini for a noon doubleheader on Sunday (April 8). Friday's contest will be shown live on the Big Ten Network.
