TEMPE, Ariz. -- Junior co-captain Tiffany Ofili(Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti), junior Geena Gall(Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) and senior Nicole Edwards(Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey) won events and the University of Michigan women's track and field team posted 10 NCAA Mideast Regional qualifying performances at the Sun Angel Classic Saturday (April 12) at Arizona State's Joe Selleh Track.

Ofili accounted for two of the regional marks, running 13.01 to win the 100-meter hurdles and adding a qualifying time of 23.90 in the 200-meter dash to place ninth. Sophomore Charnee Lumbus(Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood) also earned an NCAA regional qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking 13.78 for ninth place.

Making her 2008 outdoor debut, Gall ran a regional qualifying time of 2:05.88 in the 800-meter run to top the 10-person invitational section by nearly two seconds. Edwards qualified for the NCAA regional with a first-place time of 4:17.74 in the invitational 1,500-meter run, with freshman Danielle Tauro(Manahawken, N.J./Southern Regional) earning U-M's other qualifying time in the event (4:26.67) and placing 14th.

Gall also ran the second leg of Michigan's fourth-place 4x400-meter relay team which posted an NCAA regional qualifying time of 3:40.24. Joining Gall were senior Serita Williams(Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee), junior/sophomore Shana Vinson(Detroit, Mich./Mumford) and junior Amber Hay(Detroit, Mich./Renaissance). Hay earned her second NCAA regional qualifying time of the year in the 400-meter hurdles with a 12th-place time of 1:00.39.

Freshman Emily Pendleton(Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) earned her second NCAA regional qualifying mark of the season in the discus with a sixth-place throw of 163-6, while junior co-captain Bettie Wade(Northville, Mich./Farmington) finished sixth in the high jump with a qualifying clearance of 5-8 3/4.

Michigan will participate in the Central Collegiate Invitational next Saturday (April 19) on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich. Action will start at 9 a.m.
