
Holody, Morisset and Gray Named Captains for 2008

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's soccer head coach Steve Burns announced Tuesday (April 16) that senior-to-be defender Michael Holody(Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston ), senior-to-be midfielder Alex Morisset(Shelby Township, Mich./De La Salle ) and senior/junior-to-be Daniel Gray(Setauket, N.Y./Chaminade ) were named captains for the 2008 season. Holody, Morisset and Gray were elected by their teammates and appointed by the coaching staff. This is Holody and Morisset's second year at the helm.
"These leaders will do an exceptional job as captains of our team," said Burns. "They possess, and have developed over time, the necessary qualities to help the team stay focused on our goals; high work ethic, mental toughness, a willingness to hold their teammates accountable, and great interpersonal skills. The leadership of the team is in very capable hands."
Holody started in 19 games during the 2007 season, earning 10 points of four goals and two assists. He was named an Academic All-Big Ten selection for the second year in a row. The defender was named to the Cal State Fullerton All-Tournament team, the Michigan Invitational All-Tournament team and named an All-Big Ten second team selection as well as earning honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as a Division I Great Lakes Region third team member. Additionally, he was named the team's defensive MVP.
Morisset started in 19 games as a junior captain in 2007. He took 17 shots, including four on goal. He earned a nominated to the 2007 Cal State Fullerton All-Tournament team.
Gray played in 20 games during the 2007 season. He earned his first career goal against Cal State Fullerton. The midfielder took a total eight shots during the season. Gray was named an Academic All-Big Ten for the second year in a row.
The Wolverines finished the 2007 season with a 10-7-2 record (0-4-2 Big Ten) and the best start in program history at 8-0-1.
