
U-M Alumni Reunite at 2008 Summer Hockey Showcase

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey team will welcome back its alumni at the annual Summer Hockey Showcase on Friday, Aug. 1, in Yost Ice Arena. Three games featuring alumni of various ages will be played throughout the afternoon and evening with the evening being highlighted by a 10-year reunion celebration for the 1997-98 national championship team.
The 2008 Summer Hockey Showcase, sponsored by University of Michigan Credit Union, The Rounick Family, Ann Holmes/Sue Wickett, The Original Cottage Inn, Thalner Electronic Labs, Northwest Airlines, Brown Jug, The Semack Family, Wally and Mickey Grant, Dean Lucier and the U-M Snoopy Old-Timers and the Dekers Blue Line Club will feature three separate contests at Yost Ice Arena. Alumni between the ages of 35-50 will play at 4:30 p.m., followed by the 50-plus alumni/celebrity game at 5:30 p.m. Finally, the 6:30 p.m. match-up will feature 13 members of the 1997-98 national title team as well other under-35 alumni and recent graduates.
As of Thursday, July 31, the under-35 teams will be comprised of: Andrew Ebbett (2006), Bobby Hayes (1999), T.J. Hensick (2007), Matt Herr (1998), David Huntzicker (2001), Matt Hunwick (2007), Brandon Kaleniecki (2006), Josh Langfeld (2001), Nick Martens (2005), David Moss (2005), Eric Nystrom (2005), Sean Peach (2000), Andrew Merrick (2000), Kevin Magnuson (2000), Bob Gassoff (2001), Bill Trainor (2001), Chris Fragner (2008), Chris Fox (1998), Bubba Berenzweig (1999), Sean Ritchlin (1999), Bobby Hayes (1999), Krikor Arman (2000), Danny Richmond (2006), Kevin Porter (2008) andChad Kolarik (2008).
The 35-50 game will feature the following players yet to be split into teams: John Blum (1981), Roger Bourne (1981), Todd Carlile (1986), David Harlock (1993), Tim Helber (1990), Robbie Kohen (2001), Mike Knuble (1995), Don Krussman (1983), Joe Lockwood (1988), Pat Neaton (1993), Mike Neff (1985), Alex Roberts (1990), David Roberts (1993), Ted Speers (1983), Cam Stewart (1994), Don Stone (1991), Chris Tamer (1993). Also skating will be John Bacon (author of Blue Ice), Jim Hall (U-M athletic office) and John Peterson.

Tickets for the 2008 Summer Hockey Showcase can be purchased at the Yost Ice Arena box office beginning at 4 p.m. when the doors open. All proceeds will benefit the Michigan Hockey Scholarship Endowment Fund. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.
