Q U O T E S
Michigan HeadCoach Kathy Teichert
On the Mary Fossum Invitational ... "It was a disappointing weekend. After playing so well at home, we felt confident going into Michigan State. We just did not get off to a good start. When youre struggling you are waiting for that one shot to help make a turnaround. I never felt like we got something going to change the momentum around, and from that standpoint it was disappointing. After the first round, we shot the highest round that weve played this year, even in qualifying. The second round, I thought we would bring it back. We didn't. We made some mistakes out there. We did not play consistent golf. I felt like our consistency was not there this weekend and we never got any momentum. Knowing how capable this team is and how talented they are, it was a big disappointment. I know that this team will rebound from our play this past weekend. Golf sometimes can be very humbling, and it humbled us this weekend."
U-M Junior Ashley Bauer
On the tournament ... "It was a very disappointing weekend after coming off of a pretty big win last weekend. We didn't get off how we wanted. We wanted to come out today and make up some ground. We jumped a couple places but we didn't play well enough to make any damage. We had one good round in there really and that is basically all I can say. Louisa (Shu) shot a 74 today, so that was good for her to come back. I was happy for her. We just didn't have any scores to back it up with, and I did not play all weekend."
On what the team can do now ... "We have about two weeks before our next tournament, so it gives us some time to reevaluate and see where we are going from here. I think we will have some team meetings and talk about it. Everyone needs to work on certain aspects and go out to the range and put in extra hours. It is our first 36-hole day, so we have lots of room for improvement and lots of time. It was disappointing, but there is a bright future."
U-M Freshman Milena Savich
On the team's performance this weekend ... "I was extremely disappointed with how I played. Obviously, I wanted to go out there and shoot a little bit lower. We have been working really hard. We have had a bunch of qualifying rounds and what not, but I feel like I just didn't get off to a good start the first couple rounds."
On the team's improvement on the final day ... "It wasn't hard to improve much after yesterday's round. Today, I think everyone played a little bit better. I know Louisa (Shu) shot a 74, so that was good to see. I didn't finish as strong. My last four holes I finished bogey, bogey, par and bogey, but the team was happier today with today's finish than yesterday's round."
