Western Michigan Series Notes
Michigan extended its overall winning streak over WMU to five games. U-M has swept seven of the last 10 regular-season series with the Broncos.
U-M is 65-26-10 all-time vs. WMU, including a 38-11-2 mark at Yost Ice Arena.
In eight career games, Carl Hagelin has six goals and six assists against the Broncos. He had two goals and three assists this weekend.
Team Notes
Michigan's six goals tied its season-high output for the third time. U-M had six tallies at Alaska-Anchorage on Oct. 10 and vs. Minnesota on Nov. 27.
U-M notched three goals in a period for the eighth time this season. The Wolverines lit the lamp three times in the third period.
Michigan has won a season-best four straight games at Yost Ice Arena, improving its overall record on home ice to 5-4-0. U-M plays its next three games at Yost.
The Wolverines have equaled their season-best winning streak of three games; U-M beat Michigan Tech on Dec. 30 and swept the Broncos this weekend. U-M also won three straight from Nov. 21-28.
Michigan has a perfect record of 10-0 this season when leading after the first period and is 10-2 after scoring the first goal of the game.
This is the Wolverines' second CCHA series sweep of the season. Michigan's other CCHA sweep came on Oct. 30-31, 2009, at Lake Superior State.
Michigan has scored a power-play goal in 11 of the last 12 games and has eight power-play goals in the past three games.
The Wolverines were perfect (6-for-6) on the penalty kill for the 12th time this season but just the first time in the last six games.
Individual Notes
Carl Hagelin posted a career-best four points on two goals and two assists. The two goals tied Hagelin's career best for the fourth time. He is the first Wolverine to post four points in a game since Aaron Palushaj had a 1-4-5 line against Nebraska-Omaha on Feb. 13, 2009.
Hagelin's four-point night improved his point and assist streak to four games. With multiple points in three of those four games, he has 3-6-9 totals during the surge.
Chad Langlais scored his first goal of the season. The tally, which came 26 seconds after the opening faceoff, was the quickest goal to start a game this season for U-M.
Matt Rust tallied his 11th assist of the season, matching his career high that he set in 2007-08 as a freshman and equaled in 2008-09.
A.J. Treais' power-play goal was his third of the season and first overall goal in 10 games. Two of his three goals this season have come on the power play.
Kevin Lynch set a career high of three assists and three points. He is the first Wolverine this season to achieve a playmaker.
U-M's top line of Carl Hagelin, Matt Rust and Kevin Lynch combined for three goals and six assists and each finished the game with a +4 plus/minus rating.
Ben Winnett notched two assists to record his third career multi-point game, all of which have come this season.
With a goal this evening, David Wohlberg has a point in each of his last three games (2-1-3).
