
Pendleton, 4x400-meter Relay Team Win at Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team picked up two victories Saturday (March 27) at the two-day Stanford Invitational, with junior Emily Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) taking top honors in the discus while the 4x400-meter relay team won the final event of the day.
Pendleton won the invitational discus event with a throw of 52.96m (173-9) while also recording a seventh-place finish in the invitational hammer throw (52.30m, 171-7) and a fourth-place showing in the shot put with a toss of 14.27m (46-10).
The 4x400-meter relay team of senior/junior Alisha Cole (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac), junior Jennifer Neville (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child), sophomore Alexandria Williams (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and senior Shana Vinson (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) combined for a time of 3:41.92 to win the final running event of the day.
Neville also recorded a second-place time of 1:00.70 in the 400-meter hurdles, and Vinson recorded a third-place showing in the 400-meter dash (54.84).
Junior/sophomore Allison Liske (Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland East) continued her strong season, picking up two second-place showings on Friday while finishing fifth in the collegiate hammer throw (46.88m, 153-10). Liske finished second in the shot put (15.27m, 50-1 1/4) and the collegiate discus (44.98m, 147-7).
Freshman Erin Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) rounded out the top finishes for the Wolverines, taking third in the collegiate hammer throw when she recorded a throw of 47.66m (156-4).
U-M returns to Michigan next Saturday (April 3), traveling to Michigan State for the Spartan Invitational. Events will begin at 10 a.m.

Emily Pendleton won the discus for the second consecutive weekend.
U-M has won a relay at both events this outdoor season. The Wolverines won the 4x100-meter relay last weekend at the Bulls Invitational.
Shana Vinson set a new personal record in the 200-meter dash (24.48).
U-M will return to Stanford for the Payton Jordan, April 30-May 1.
The collegiate throwing events consisted of only four throws.
