SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The distance medley relay team and three individuals from the University of Michigan women's track and field team hit provisional marks at the Alex Wilson Invitational this weekend (Fri-Sat., March 5-6) at the Loftus Sports Center.
On Friday night, the distance medley relay team of freshman Jillian Smith (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional), senior Shana Vinson (Detroit, Mich./Mumford), freshman Rebecca Addison (Spring Lake, Mich./Grand Haven) and junior Danielle Tauro (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) ran a season-best time of 11:11.17.
Smith gave the Wolverines a lead with her leg and Vinson kept it during her 400-meter leg. Addison fell behind to fifth during the third leg of the relay, with Tauro moving the Wolverines from fifth to third during her mile run.
In the field on Saturday, redshirt sophomore Allison Liske (Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland East) had a personal-best day in the shot put to win the event. Liske's final throw of the day was 16.18 meters (53-01.00), the first time she has ever thrown further than 16 meters.
Redshirt junior Charnee Lumbus (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood) ran a personal-record and provisional time in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.26.
