
Wolverines Capture Five Top-10 Showings at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Freshman Erin Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) won her first collegiate title (discus) on Friday (April 23) as the University of Michigan women's track and field team recorded five top-10 finishes at the two-day Drake Relays this weekend (Fri-Sat., April 23-24) at Drake Stadium.
Erin Pendleton gave Michigan its second consecutive discus title at the Drake Relays, coming through with a throw of 52.86 meters (172-10). Her sister, junior Emily Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore), took third with a throw of 52.16 meters (171-01) after winning at last year's event.
Senior/junior Charnee Lumbus (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood) placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 13.59.
The Wolverines picked up their final two top-10 showings in the shot put with junior/sophomore Allison Liske (Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland) finishing sixth (14.74m, 48-04.50) and junior/sophomore Danica Haight (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West) coming in 10th (14.39m, 47-02.50).
U-M participated in three relays, taking 11th in the 4x400-meter relay (3:42.55), 14th in the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (3:57.57) and 19th in the 4x100-meter relay (47.54).
The Wolverines return to the Midwest next weekend (Fri-Sat., April 30-May 1) for the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State. Freshman Rebecca Addison (Spring Lake, Mich./Grandville) and junior Danielle Tauro (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) will represent U-M at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Stanford on May 1.
