After 15 holes of sunny skies, rain fell throughout the remainder of the round. Despite the poor weather, Tan opened with a 75 in the first round to sit ninth, before she rallied in the second round behind four straight birdies on holes three through six, tying a single-round career best with a 71 to vault into the individual lead after 36 holes with a four-over 146 total.
Freshman Alyssa Shimel (Pemberville, Ohio/Eastwood) and junior Meagan Bauer (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) each closed the day at 155. In Shimel's first career start and Bauer's 12 straight, they both matched each other with rounds of 78 and 77, respectively, to sit in a tie for 28th.
Other Wolverine starting scores include sophomore Caramia Sitompul (Jakarta, Indonesia/Bradenton Prep Academy [Bradenton, Fla.]) tied for 31st at 156 (76-80) and senior Katelin Davis (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) tied for 78th at 168 (85-83).
