FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan water polo team defeated Colorado State, 12-8, on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 26) at CSU's EPIC Center.
Seniors Alison Mantel (Miami, Fla./Gulliver) and Lauren Orth (Poway, Calif./Poway), sophomore Lauren Colton (Tustin, Calif./Tesoro) and freshman Kelsey Nolan (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) each tallied twice for the Wolverines.
Orth, sophomore Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) and freshman Hathaway Moore (Atherton, Calif./Saint Francis) each tallied two assists, with Adamson making nine stops in the cage.
Michigan scored nine goals in the second half to overcome a 5-3 halftime deficit to take the victory. Five different Wolverines scored in the third period to put the Maize and Blue ahead 8-7 before a commanding fourth frame gave U-M a four-goal advantage.
The same two teams will be back at it tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 27) at noon MST at the EPIC Center.
