
Cobb Grabs Share of CWPA Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Junior Meagan Cobb (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) of the No. 7-ranked University of Michigan water polo team was named CWPA Western Division co-Player of the Week, the league office announced late Tuesday (March 15). Cobb tallied eight goals, two assists, 10 steals and five drawn kickouts as the Maize and Blue bowled over a pair of Western Division foes in Mercyhurst and Gannon on Friday (March 11) and went 5-0 in the Wolverine Invitational (Sat-Sun., March 12-13). She shares the weekly award with Shae Fournier of Indiana.
Cobb helped the Wolverines jump out to a 2-0 start in the CWPA Western Division race, tallying a goal and three assists to go with five steals against Mercyhurst and Gannon. Her biggest game of the weekend came on Sunday as she sparked the U-M offense with four goals and a pair of steals in a victory over Marist. Cobb ended the weekend by becoming the 14th player in program history to score 100 times in her career. The historic marker against Iona came along with three steals and a pair of DKO.
A 2010 CWPA All-Western Division second team selection, Cobb picked up her sixth CWPA weekly accolade and first Player of the Week award. The U-M co-captain has put together 21 goals and 10 assists during her junior campaign.
Michigan will continue with its CWPA Western Division slate at Indiana on Saturday (March 26) at 2 p.m. in Bloomington, Ind. The rivalry game will be aired live on the Big Ten Network.
