BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Freshman Lauren Dudley (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) of the No. 7-ranked University of Michigan water polo team was named CWPA Western Division Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday (April 5).
Dudley scored six goals and had two steals in three games at the Tiger Tournament (Sat-Sun., April 2-3). Dudley tallied two goals and a steal in a divisional matchup with Bucknell to pull the Maize and Blue to within a game of clinching the CWPA Western Division title. Later that day, she matched a career high with four goals against St. Francis (N.Y.).
Dudley is the second member of the class of 2014 to earn CWPA Rookie of the Week, joining freshman Kelsey Nolan (San Jose, Calif./Leland), who was tabbed with the Jan. 31 award. Dudley has notched 17 goals and three assists to go with 10 steals while appearing in every game of her rookie campaign to date.
Michigan will look to seal up its 10th division title as part of the Bison Tournament this weekend (Sat-Sun., April 9-10) in Lewisburg, Pa. Michigan will have a chance to clinch the title in the opener against No. 16-ranked Hartwick on Saturday (April 9) at 11:30 a.m.
