ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In its final home match of the regular season, the 24th-ranked University of Michigan women's soccer team played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw with Ohio State on Senior Day on Sunday (Oct. 19) at U-M Soccer Stadium. With the game tied 1-1 going into the final minute of regulation, both teams tallied goals before the horn to send the game to overtime, where neither team could manage to break the tie in 20 minutes of extra play.

The Wolverines outshot the Buckeyes, 27-19, and held a 17-9 advantage in corner kicks.
All four goals in regulation came in alternating pairs, as both teams scored their first goal five minutes apart in the middle of the second half and then added one more each just 13 seconds apart in the final minute of regulation.
Michigan led 8-4 in shots in the first half, but neither team could break the tie in the first 45 minutes of play. The Wolverines put three quality shots on net in the opening half, but Ohio State goalkeeper Megan Geldernick cleaned up all three attempts, including a diving tip-save on a shot from sophomore Nicky Waldeck (Chicago, Ill./Western Reserve Academy [OH]) from the left side of the box.
Michigan's first goal came in the 70th minute, as a corner kick from the far side by freshman Taylor Timko (Rochester Hills, Mich./Pontiac Notre Dame Prep) was headed home by Waldeck at the top of the six-yard box.
Less than five minutes later, OSU was awarded a corner kick, which was headed out by sophomore Madisson Lewis (Canton, Mich./Plymouth). Buckeye Nicole Miyashiro played the ball back out wide to Kayla Varner, who crossed it into the middle of the box, where Ellyn Gruber put home the running header at 74:02.
After the pair of goals, both teams had several chances, but nothing materialized until the final minute. Sophomore Anna Soccorsi (Yardley, Pa./The Pennington School [NJ]) received the ball just over midfield and carried the ball down the left side into the box, where she slotted the ball across the box to freshman Danielle Hogarth (Jarrettsville, Md./The Bryn Mawr School), who was running through the cage and one-timed it into the right side of the goal.
Michigan led 2-1 with 58 seconds left, but the Buckeyes' Sammy Edwards tied the game, 2-2, at 89:15.
The match went to overtime, where Michigan produced five shots in the two overtime periods and held Ohio State to just one shot in the first overtime period. Neither team broke the 2-2 tie, and the match ended with Michigan recording its first tie of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Megan Hinz (Eldersburg, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) made five saves in her first career tie and moved to 10-2-1 on the season. Geldernick made seven stops in net for Ohio State.
The Wolverines will now hit the road for their final three Big Ten matchups, starting at Northwestern on Friday (Oct. 24). The match will begin at 7 p.m. CDT at Lakeside Field and will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
