DePaul took the early 1-0 lead by virtue of the doubles point, as the teams split the first two matches off court at No. 2 (DePaul) and No. 3 (Kentucky). The Blue Demons held a 6-2 lead at No. 1, before UK rallied to force a tiebreaker at 7-7. With the breaker tied 2-2, DePaul ripped off five straight points to take the match and the first point of the match.
Kentucky evened up the score with a straight-set win by Mami Adachi at No. 4, but DePaul ripped off three straight wins -- at No. 6, No. 2 and No. 5 -- to clinch the 4-1 win.
