
Cronenworth, Adcock Earn ABCA All-Region Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- University of Michigan baseball junior infielder/righthanded pitcher Jacob Cronenworth and sophomore lefthanded pitcher Brett Adcock were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Mideast Region teams, it was announced today (Wednesday, June 10). Cronenworth was a first team selection, while Adcock garnered second team honors.
Cronenworth played and started in all 64 games for the Maize and Blue this season and hit .338 with 18 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 48 runs batted in. He led the Big Ten with 91 hits and 62 runs scored and was ninth in the league in batting average. On the mound, the St. Clair, Michigan, native compiled eight saves with 53 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched. He held opponents to a .233 batting average and had a 3.67 earned-run average. Cronenworth had four saves in the Big Ten Tournament and hit .389 with three RBI on his way to being named the Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Cronenworth was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the seventh round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday afternoon (June 9).
Adcock was 10-4 with a 3.10 ERA in 19 appearances on the mound for the Wolverines. The Kawkawlin, Michigan, native had 79 strikeouts, which were second in the Big Ten, in 90 innings pitched and held opponents to a .213 batting average. Adcock was named to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team after earning wins against Indiana (May 20) and in the championship game against Maryland (May 24). He had 10 or more strikeouts in three games this season, including 11-strikeout performances against Siena (March 1) and Minnesota (April 26). Adcock was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week on March 2 and was All-Big Ten third team selection his sophomore season.
Michigan (39-25) capped off a season that saw the Maize and Blue win its ninth Big Ten Tournament title and advance to the championship game of the NCAA Louisville Regional.
