ROSEMONT, Ill. -- After recording a career-high 12 strikeouts Friday (March 11) in Michigan's 5-4 extra-inning victory at Hawaii, University of Michigan junior LHP Brett Adcock was named the Big Ten Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon (March 14).
Adcock tossed seven complete innings with the career-high 12 strikeouts and allowing just one run on two hits in the no-decision outing. The Kawkawlin, Michigan, native faced 24 batters in his third start of the season. He owns a 1.15 earned run average on the season and has fanned 26 batters and allowed just five hits in 15.2 innings pitched this year.
Through just four weeks of play, a member of the Wolverine pitching staff has earned the Big Ten's weekly pitcher award three times. Adcock is the second member of the squad to do so, joining two-time winner Oliver Jaskie.
In other Big Ten weekly awards, Nebraska's Scott Schreiber was named the Player of the Week, while Iowa's Zach Daniels earned Freshman of the Week accolades.
With an 11-3 record in hand, the Wolverines will return to action on Friday (March 18) when they face the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the start of a three-day, three-game series. First pitch of Friday's single game is slated for 4 p.m. CDT at the Cowboys' home stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
