Senior catcher Lauren Connell will be blogging throughout the softball season to let Michigan fans in on what happens outside of the field of play. Check back to MGoBlue.com each Monday to read "The Inside Pitch with LC."
As we finish up the last day of classes for the semester, finals week is quickly approaching. Although we are excited to be in the home stretch of school work for the year, the beautiful weather is making studying even more of a chore than it already is. In honor of the last week of the spring semester, here is a look at Team 39's most memorable classes we have taken at the University of Michigan.
#1 Abby Ramirez
My favorite class is Comm 380: Persuasion, because it's a mix of communications, psychology, and marketing, which are all subjects I'm really interested in. Also, our professor gives us cases that are relevant to everyday life, making us apply what we learn to actual things we could be doing in the real world.
#2 Aidan Falk
Spanish 232 was a class that stood out to me. I had to take the course even though Spanish isn't my best subject, but I really liked my professor. She was a great reminder that you can always work harder to be better at something you're not every good at.
#3 Megan Betsa
My favorite class has been Philosophy 151: The Good Life and Rational Choices. I enjoyed this class because it was totally different than any class I've taken. I enjoyed learning philosophical perspectives of what makes people happy and how they choose to make decisions. There also was some psychology and sociology behind it, which I always enjoy.
#4 Leah Crockett
My favorite class I've taken here at Michigan so far is African American Studies 358. I enjoyed this class because it was all about child health in Africa and the different diseases and infections that take place there. My grandparents travel to Africa quite often for mission trips through their church, and I've always wanted to visit Africa so it was neat to learn about the different medicine and healing practices they use their. Also the fact that my professor was a world renowned anthropologist and author only made the class all that more interesting.
#5 Olivia Richvalsky
My favorite class this year was called "The Internet and Political Communication." We looked at the role the internet plays in the political process, think: Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat stories from political events and daily news publications online. It was so interesting to see how technology has changed the ways political campaigns operate, especially during an election year where we could see it all unfold right before our eyes (and laptop screens).
#7 Kelsey Susalla
I took three psychology classes with Dr. Schreier over my four years, and I have loved every single one of them. I have learned so much and she has such a great personality that it makes learning fun.
#8 Nikki Wald
My favorite class was Psychology 270, which is about psychopathology. It covers all the mental illnesses including depression and anxiety, personality disorders, schizophrenia and many other mental health disorders. It was very interesting learning about different disorders people live with day to day and the treatments that go along with them. Now I have a better understanding of people and the mind as a whole.
#10 Sara Driesenga
Social Work 521: Interpersonal Practice with Individuals, Families, and Small Groups. The professor I had for this class made it really enjoyable to learn about different ways activities and games can be used effectively in therapy. She brought in the games and activities she uses and we got to come up with a few of our own as well.
#11 Natalie Peters
I enjoyed Psychology 111 because my professor, Dr. Schrier, was amazing and I got to know her on a personal level. She truly cared about the students and it made me want to excel in her class
#12 Amanda Vargas
My favorite class was Biology 171. It is an introduction to biology class, which doesn't necessarily sound like a lot of fun, but I really loved my teacher and I'm super into science-type courses. I really liked how interactive the course was because I had a smaller lecture, so it was more one on one and the teacher made it fun learning about different aspects of biology.
#14 Lauren Connell
The most interesting class I have taken at Michigan was actually outside of my major and my college of liberal arts. Movement Science 241, a class in the School of Kinesiology, was one I looked forward to every week because of its focus on nutrition and sports performance. I loved learning more about the food industry in the United States and some of the underlying reasons behind the obesity epidemic in our country. Our projects were more fun than traditional homework, because they involved creating diet and exercise plans for different types of athletes. It combined my two favorite things, sports and food, to create a course that gave me valuable real-world knowledge that I will use for the rest of my life!

#15 Alex Sobczak
The most interesting and unique class I've taken at Michigan was African American Studies 103, which had a focus on witchcraft and the liberation of South Africa.
#16 Morgan Swift
My favorite class I've taken at Michigan is BA 200 because I learned basic skills I need to be successful in life such as building a resume, interview skills, and how to recognize my own interests and strengths.
#17 Katie Alexander
My favorite class has been Movement Science 110. I loved this class because it showed me what a movement science degree at Michigan would consist of. It was really interesting to learn about the human body, and I also loved learning about research that Michigan specifically does with adidas.
#18 Lindsay Montemarano
I'd say either public speaking, because I got to talk -- and I like that! -- or Marketing 313, because the professor was from Long Island and was really good making at the class really fun. It was also interesting to learn about how companies compete with each other and choose how to market themselves. Fun class!
#19 Courtney Richardson
My favorite class I have taken at Michigan is SM 111. Our final presentation was a fun, competitive and creative assignment. We had to persuade our professor that our groups newly designed college athletic structure would benefit "his" university the best and most successfully.
#20 Mary Sbonek
My favorite class that I've ever taken at the University of Michigan is Education 212: The History of College Athletics with Professor John U. Bacon. The course covers how college athletics formed and continually change. The topic is interesting and relevant to my life and Professor Bacon makes an already interesting class even more fun. My favorite aspect of the class were all of the guest speakers that came to class including our own Carol Hutchins as well as other Michigan coaches, Red Berenson and John Beilein. Former athletic director Bill Martin, and former Michigan greats Jim Betts and Jim Abbott also came to speak to our class.
#21 Kelly Christner
My favorite class has been HF218, which I'm taking this semester. It's an emergency response class, so basically I learn how to handle emergent situations such as choking, unconsciousness, etc. It's one of the few classes I've taken that is completely hands on and will be very helpful if I am ever in a situation like this!
#22 Sierra Lawrence
Entrepreneurship 339 was an independent study, so I was free to explore with creating a business plan for a softball facility. The professor is really cool and helpful, which made for a fun and interesting class.
#23 Taylor Swearingen
My favorite class was Sport Management 203. We talked about the business side of sport, such as how businesses are profitable and the different business models that are used. We talked about how the Olympics, college sport, and professional sport leagues are run.
#24 Tera Blanco
I liked Dance 100 because it was very fun, and I love to break it down on the dance floor. Plus, I got to learn some cool jazz dance moves and make a dance routine with Taylor Swearingen and Amanda Vargas, who were also in my class.
#25 Faith Canfield
The weirdest class I have taken was English 124 based on monster theory and argumentation. This was a first-year English writing requirement class, and we read and wrote about monsters and how they impact humanity. Definitely never thought I would be discussing monsters in one of my first classes at Michigan!
#32 Sierra Romero
My favorite teacher I have had is John Rubadeau. He has not only taught me the essentials to writing, but he also gave us great life lessons that I'll remember forever.
#44 Mackenzie Nemitz
The most inspirational class I have taken is EDUC 212. It is about the history of college athletics, and it is my favorite class because the University of Michigan is built on tradition, and being a student-athlete here I feel the need to know how the University came to be and how it has grown to become the best University ever.
