OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan softball team's NCAA Women's College World Series opener against No. 10 LSU has been postponed due to rain and wet field conditions at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The game has been rescheduled for 8:30 CDT tomorrow (Friday, June 3) in modified tournament schedule, which essentially pushes everything back a day.
Both games in the evening WCWS bracket were affected by the rain, which prompted a two-and-a-half hour delay until the official decision to postpone. No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 6 Alabama were halted in the second inning of their first-round matchup and will resume at 6 p.m. tomorrow. The winners of the tomorrow evening's games will play at 8:30 p.m. CDT on Saturday (June 4), while the losers will play at 1:30 p.m. CDT.
Today's afternoon bracket participants -- Georgia, Florida State, Auburn and UCLA -- will all receive a day off tomorrow.
