
Women's Swimming and Diving Preps for Big Ten Tune-Up at Minnesota

» Michigan (2-0) will face No. 17 Minnesota, No. 18 Wisconsin and Penn State in a two-day quad meet in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The meet begins at 6 p.m. (CT) on Friday (Nov. 3) and concludes at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 4).

The No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team (2-0) aims to keep its first-half surge going, facing No. 17 Minnesota (2-0, 1-0 B1G), No. 18 Wisconsin (0-4) and Penn State (0-3) in a weekend quad meet at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The competition begins on Friday (Nov. 3) at 6 p.m. (CT) and concludes on Saturday (Nov. 4) at 10 a.m.
Both sessions are slated to be streamed live via BTN-Plus and BTN2Go. Olympic gold medalist David Plummer and Ashley Steenvoorden will be on the call.

WOLVERINE BITES
• In the all-time series, Michigan is 3-8 all-time against Minnesota, 15-3 against Wisconsin and 10-3 against Penn State. This weekend marks the program's first visit to Minneapolis since the 2013-14 season, when Minnesota hosted a dual meet (winning 174.5-125.5) and both the Big Ten and NCAA Championships.
• Michigan enters the weekend having won its last 20 dual meets against Big Ten opponents. Since the start of the 2014-15 season, it is 24-4 in duals.
• The Wolverines jumped three spots to No. 3 in the most recent College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, released on Oct. 25. The next poll will be unveiled on Nov. 8. [ Poll ]
• Through the first two months of the season, Michigan finds several of its swimmers ranked among the best in the Big Ten in several races, most notably in freestyle. Siobhán Haughey leads the conference in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke. Others with top times so far include Yirong Bi (500-yard freestyle, 400-yard IM), Clara Smiddy (100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard IM) and Vanessa Krause (100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly). SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Minnesota -- The Golden Gophers are 2-0 (1-0 Big Ten) on the season, scoring road wins over Florida State (153.5-146.5) and Iowa (190-109). Last season, Minnesota finished fourth in the Big Ten and 10th at the NCAA Championships.
Wisconsin -- The Badgers are 0-4 on the season, but have faced a difficult schedule with losses to Auburn (205-146), Tennessee (204-149), Georgia (183-117) and North Carolina State (202-149). Last season, Wisconsin finished third in the Big Ten and 15th at the NCAA Championships.
Penn State -- The Nittany Lions are 0-3 on the season, dropping dual meets to Virginia (184-104), Duke (159-139) and North Carolina State (185.5-110.5). Last season, Penn State finished eighth in the Big Ten and 36th at the NCAA Championships.
