The No. 8 University of Michigan women's gymnastics team will be tested on the road for the second time this season as the Wolverines head to Lincoln, Nebraska, for a Big Ten Conference battle with No. 12 Nebraska on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 27) at 2 p.m. CST.
MEET INFO
• The two top-25 teams will square off in the Devaney Center on Saturday.
• The Huskers and the Wolverines shared the 2017 Big Ten regular-season title and are currently tied with Minnesota and Iowa at the top of the Big Ten standings.
• Michigan is 26-20-1 all-time against Nebraska. The two have been at the top of the Big Ten since the Huskers joined the conference, with U-M winning five of the eight regular-season duals since 2010 and four straight Big Ten titles.
• Nebraska is ranked No. 12 in the country with a 2-0 record. Both wins have come against Big Ten teams. The Huskers are top 10 nationally on vault and balance beam.
• The Wolverines slid to No. 8 nationally and maintain top 10 rankings on both vault (10th) and uneven bars (T-4th).
• Four Wolverines are among the top 50 nationally on bars. Senior Brianna Brown is ranked 22nd nationally to lead the group. Sophomore Polina Shchennikova is tied for 32nd, and freshmen Syd Townsend and Lauren Farley are tied for 36th.
• Junior captain Emma McLean is ranked in the top 10 on two events. She is tied for 10th on vault and is fifth on floor exercise.
• Junior Olivia Karas is 44th in the country in the all-around.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Wolverines earned a win in their first road contest of the season, defeating No. 21 Illinois, 194.975-194.325, on Jan. 20.
• McLean tied for the win on floor with a 9.875 and was second on vault with a 9.875. Her floor victory was the fifth of her career.
• The Wolverines had the top three finishers on bars, with senior Paige Zaziski earning the winning score of 9.900, Karas finishing second and Shchennikova third. The win was the 10th event or all-around title for Zaziski at Michigan.
• Farley took second on beam with a 9.825, helping Michigan overcome a fall to pull out the close win.
