WOLVERINE BITES
• The seven-man senior class has gone 33-2 in dual meets, won two Big Ten team titles (2015, 2016) and combined for nine CSCAA All-America honors. Additionally, six of the seven are Academic All-Big Ten selections; James Peek is not eligible due to transferring from Duke.
• Since 2007, Michigan is 89-6-1 in dual meets, going 56-3 against Big Ten opponents.
• The Wolverines came in at No. 6 in the most recent TYR/CSCAA Division I Coaches Poll, released on Jan. 31. The next poll is scheduled for Feb. 7. [ Poll ]
• Evan White was one of the hottest swimmers in the conference in January; the senior won four events and finished second in two others across the team's two dual meets. He was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week on Jan. 24 after winning a trio of events at Ohio State on Jan. 20. He is ranked third in the Big Ten in both the 200-yard IM and 100-yard butterfly, and fourth in the 200-yard butterfly.
• Senior PJ Ransford enters Friday having swept the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle in the team's dual meets against Indiana and Ohio State this month. In between the team's duals, he cut nearly three seconds in the 1,000-yard freestyle and one-and-a-half seconds in the 500-yard freestyle. Ransford was the focus in MGoBlue's Scholar Stories series last week. [ Scholar Story ]
• The Wolverines appear poised to score major points in the IMs at the Big Ten Championships. They have five of the conference's top six swimmers in the 200-yard IM (Nos. 2-6: Jacob Montague, Evan White, Tommy Cope, Charlie Swanson and Miles Smachlo) and six of the top 12 in the 400-yard IM (Swanson and Cope at Nos. 1-2; Stephen Holmquist at No. 5; PJ Ransford at No. 8; Ricardo Vargas and Will Roberts at Nos. 11-12).
• All four of this year's divers -- two sophomores, two freshmen -- have qualified for the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships. Sophomore Jake Herremans and freshman Ross Todd have scores in all three diving events, while freshman Chris Canning has two (both one- and three-meter diving) and sophomore Steven Anderson has one (one-meter). Junior Collin DeShaw is redshirting the season. [ Diving ]
