Wolverines and Terrapins
This will be the eighth meeting between Michigan and Maryland. The Wolverines hold a 6-1 series lead and have won three of the four games played as Big Ten Conference East Division foes. Michigan defeated Maryland by a 35-10 score last season in College Park, Maryland. Prior to last season, the Wolverines claimed a 59-3 home victory in 2016 and posted a 28-0 win in 2015, their only other appearance at Maryland. The Terrapins' only victory in the series came in the inaugural meeting as conference rivals, a 23-16 win at Michigan Stadium during the 2014 season. U-M won non-conference match-ups against Maryland during the 1985, 1989 and 1990 seasons.

Michigan Homecoming
• This will be the 118th homecoming game (excluding alumni exhibitions) and the 122nd all-time homecoming game played by the Wolverines in Ann Arbor.
• Michigan has a 90-27 record in homecoming games (91-28-2 including alumni exhibitions held during the 1897, 1898, 1899 and 1906 seasons).
• U-M has won seven straight homecoming games and 19 of its last 23 homecoming games.
• The Wolverines have claimed victories in 43 of their last 50 homecoming games dating back to 1968.
• Maryland will serve as U-M's homecoming opponent for the first time on Saturday. Minnesota leads the way with 33 appearances as Michigan's homecoming opponent.
• Maryland is the 19th different school to serve as U-M's homecoming opponent (not including alumni exhibitions).
• The Terrapins are the 12th different Big Ten school to serve as the Wolverines' homecoming foe, including former Big Ten member Chicago.

Winovich Shares Big Ten Weekly Honor
Fifth-year senior defensive lineman Chase Winovich was named co-Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Michigan's win at Northwestern (Sept. 29). Winovich totaled nine stops with a career-high eight solo tackles, including 3.0 tackles for loss with one sack. It marks his first conference award of the season and the second of his career, both of which are co-honors. The Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, native has 10.5 TFLs through five weeks. He leads the Big Ten and is third nationally in tackles for loss per contest (2.1).
Game Notes Nuggets
• Michigan's roster features two Maryland natives that attended the Gilman School: sophomore linebacker Jordan Anthony (Silver Springs) and junior offensive lineman Stephen Spanellis (Baltimore).
• U-M leads the Big Ten in four defensive categories: total defense, pass defense, pass efficiency and tackles for loss. The Wolverines lead the nation in total defense (232.6 avg.) while listing fourth in pass defense (146.2 avg.) and fifth in tackles for loss (9.4 avg.).
• The Wolverines continue to be one of the most balanced offenses in the country, averaging 205.6 yards rushing and 206.2 yards passing per contest. The offense has gained 1,028 yards on the ground and 1,031 through the air in five games.
• Michigan's offense has been one of the nation's most efficient passing games this fall, listing third in the Big Ten and 31st nationally in pass efficiency (153.0 rating). The Wolverines are completing 66 percent of their passes (84-127) for 1,031 yards. Shea Patterson is fourth in the conference and 36th nationally in pass efficiency (154.2 rating).
• Running back Karan Higdon carried the ball 30 times for 115 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns at Northwestern, moving within 83 yards of 2,000 yards rushing for his career. He has three straight 100-yard rushing games and ranks ninth nationally and second in the Big Ten with 119.8 yards per game.
• Wide receiver Nico Collins leads the team with 214 receiving yards on 13 receptions. He hauled in a career-high six passes for 73 yards at Northwestern.
• Michigan has recorded 47 TFLs this season (9.4 per game), with 20 different players contributing to the team's total. Michigan registered 14 tackles for loss against Nebraska, the highest known total since 1997.

• Defensive linemen Kwity Paye and Josh Uche played key roles at Northwestern. Half of Paye's career-best four stops were sacks, while Uche also had two sacks, including one that ended the game.
• Michigan's defensive backs were active against Northwestern, with Jordan Glasgow tallying a career-high six tackles in his second start and Tyree Kinnel registering seven tackles. David Long added three stops and broke up a pass, while Brandon Watson had three tackles and one PBU against the Wildcats.
• Punter Will Hart has averaged over 50 yards per punt in each of the past four games, and 13 of his 17 punts this season have been for 50 yards or more. He punted six tmes for a 51-yard average at Northwestern and had a punt downed inside the 5.
• Michigan has played 91 student-athletes this fall, including 25 players that are walk-ons or began their careers as walk-ons.

Michigan's home game against Wisconsin on Saturday, Oct. 13, has been announced as a 7:30 p.m. start and will be televised by ABC.
