ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team and head coach Erik Bakich announced the 2018-19 schedule on Wednesday (Oct. 3). The fall slate will feature one home contest, while the spring championship season will include 26 home games at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.
Michigan will open the 2019 season with a three-game series against Binghamton in Port St. Lucie, Florida, beginning Feb. 15. The series marks the fourth straight year that Michigan will open up its season at Tradition Field, as the Wolverines have played a series at the home of the New York Mets' High-A affiliate every season since 2007.
The Wolverines will then make a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, for a three-game series at The Citadel (Feb. 22-24) before heading west to California for Michigan's spring break trip. Michigan will begin the west coast swing on March 1 with a series at Cal State Northridge before heading south to play games at Long Beach State and UC Irvine. The Maize and Blue will then wrap up the eight-game stretch with three games in Los Angeles, California, as part of the Dodgertown Classic.
After 14 road contests to begin the season, Michigan will return home to Ann Arbor for its four-game home-opening series against Manhattan (March 15-17). Following a midweek game against Western Michigan (March 19), the Wolverines will make their final trek of the non-conference season to Lubbock, Texas, where they will face off against 2018 NCAA Tournament hosts Texas Tech and Stetson (March 21-23).
Michigan will open Big Ten Conference action with a home-and-home series against Michigan State (March 29-31), and also will host Big Ten opponents Minnesota, Northwestern, Rutgers and Indiana during the 2019 campaign. The Wolverines also will play host to Toledo, Indiana State, Bowling Green, Michigan State and Eastern Michigan in non-conference midweek matchups.
Following trips to Kentucky (May 14) and Nebraska (May 16-18) to close out the regular season, the Wolverines will seek to advance to the 2019 Big Ten Conference Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park (May 22-26).
2018 Fall Schedule
In preparation for its 2019 championship season, Michigan will compete in two games during the fall portion of the 2018-19 academic year. The Wolverines will host Lansing Community College on Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium, and will wrap up the fall season with a game at Kentucky during Michigan's fall break (Oct. 14).
