ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team defeated Memphis, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Varsity Tennis Center. The Wolverines clinched the match with straight-sets wins in singles play by Kristofer Siimar, Runhao Hua and Mattias Siimar.

Michigan earned the doubles point with victories at Nos. 2 and 1. With two doubles pairs playing for together for the first time, U-M earned a 6-2 win at No. 2 with the pairing of senior Runhao Hua and freshman Mattias Siimar, while the duo of sophomore Connor Johnston and senior Alex Knight clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at No. 1.

The Wolverines carried over their strong play to singles, earning wins in each of the first sets. The Maize and Blue earned the second point of the day when freshman Kristofer Siimar took No. 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-2 in his first career dual singles match.

Hua put U-M on the brink of victory with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 2, winning his third consecutive singles match.

Mattias Siimar gave Michigan its sixth win of the season after taking No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-1 and improving his overall record to 13-5 -- tied for second best on the team.

Michigan will conclude the Sunday doubleheader at 4 p.m. as it hosts in-state foe Western Michigan at the Varsity Tennis Center.
