
Michigan to Square Off Against No. 1 Oklahoma

The No. 7 University of Michigan women's gymnastics team will take on the top-ranked team in the country on Saturday (March 3) as they travel to Norman, Oklahoma, to face No. 1 Oklahoma at 4 p.m. CT in the Lloyd Noble Center.
MEET INFO
• This will mark the fifth straight year Michigan has faced the No. 1 team in the country with all five of those matchups coming against Oklahoma.
• The Wolverines are 8-12 all-time against the Sooners but have lost the last 10 meetings. The last time U-M traveled to Norman, they scored a 197.275 in a loss to OU.
• Michigan has a 10-1-1 record on the season with its only loss coming at Nebraska. U-M tied No. 12 Denver at the Elevate the Stage meet for just the fourth tie in school history.
• The first RQS (Regional Qualifying Score) rankings were released this week with Michigan coming in at No. 7 in the nation. Michigan has been ranked in the top 10 in 12 consecutive polls.
• The Wolverines were ranked No. 6 in the final rankings before the RQS took over and were No. 7 in the preseason poll.Â
• U-M has been at its best on balance beam with a ranking of fourth nationally, an RQS of 49.285. U-M is also seventh on uneven bars.
• Junior captain Emma McLean is ranked in the top 10 on floor exercise. She is tied for seventh in the RQS, but has the second best average in the country with a 9.925. She also ranks T-33rd on vault.
• Senior captain Paige Zaziski shot up the rankings with the RQS and is No. 25 in the all-around, T-19th on vault, T-26th on bars and T-32nd on beam.
• Senior Brianna Brown is having a great senior season. She ranks T-30th on bars and T-44th on beam.
• Michigan also has Lexi Funk (T-28 on floor) and Polina Shchennikova (T-46 on bars) in the rankings.
LAST TIME OUT
• Michigan tied No. 12 Denver with a 196.575 to win the Elevate the Stage meet. The two teams topped Utah State and Bowling Green.
• Zaziski matched her career high to win the all-around with a 39.575. She also won vault with a career best 9.925 and bars with a 9.900.
• Brown tied for the win on beam with a 9.900, while matching a career high on floor with a 9.900.
• Funk had a 9.900 on floor for the third time in four weeks and matched a career best with a 9.850 on bars.
• Sophomore Maggie O'Hara made her collegiate debut on beam and Michigan scratched its final floor competitor, Shchennikova, from the lineup or she would have made her floor debut.
