
Wolverines to Return to Crisler to Face Northwestern Again

» The Wolverines return home to Crisler Center to host Northwestern, which they last faced on Jan. 28 in Evanston, Illinois. U-M came away with an 80-59 win the last time the two teams met.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 21-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (19-6, 8-4 B1G) returns to Crisler Center on Thursday (Feb. 8) to host Northwestern (9-15, 2-8 B1G) at 7 p.m. The game is part of Michigan's "Workweek Hustle" promotion, with fans getting a ticket, hot dog and drink for just $5.
• Michigan is out to snap a two-game skid, which saw the Wolverines drop them by a combined nine points, including one in overtime. U-M, which is second in the Big Ten in scoring defense, faced the No. 1 scoring defense in Rutgers and the No. 3 scoring defense in Purdue over the last two games.
• Michigan and Northwestern are meeting for the second time this season and the second time in 12 days. Michigan came away with an 80-59 win over the Wildcats in Evanston on Jan. 28. Michigan got 27 points from Katelynn Flaherty and 25 from Hallie Thome in the win. Northwestern is one Michigan's double plays in Big Ten action, joining Ohio State and Michigan State as conference opponents the Wolverines play twice this season.
• U-M stayed in the Associated Press poll this week, coming in at No. 21 with 175 points. It is the 14th straight week in the poll for the Wolverines, setting a new school record. Prior to this season, Michigan had appeared just 17 times total in program history.
• Senior Jillian Dunston heads into Michigan's contest against Northwestern with 793 career rebounds, seven away from 800. Michigan has had five players in program history grab at least 800 rebounds, with Tabitha Pool (2001-05) the last Wolverine to join the club.
• Freshman Hailey Brown has hit her stride since returning from the holiday break in December, averaging 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per game in Big Ten play. She has upped her shooting percentage to 49.5 percent in the last 12 games and has six double-figure scoring games over that span. Brown was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week and the USBWA Freshman of the Week this season.
• Northwestern is coming off a 78-73 overtime loss at Indiana on Sunday (Feb. 4). NU closed the game on a 20-4 run to force the extra session. The Wildcats feature a trio of double-figure scorers in Lindsey Pulliam (15.0 ppg), Abi Scheid (12.8 ppg) and Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (10.6 ppg, 11.4 rpg). Northwestern is scoring 62.4 points per game on 43.3 percent shooting while giving up 64.8 points per contest on 39.8 percent shooting.
