CHICAGO, Ill. -- Freshman goalkeeper Hillary Beall of the University of Michigan women's soccer team has been called up to the U.S. U-19 Women's National Team's training camp by head coach Keri Sarver. The Laguna Beach, California, native will participate in the camp Feb. 10-17 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
Beall is among 24 players invited to the camp and is one of three goalkeepers, joining Florida State's Brooke Bollinger and Indiana's Bethany Kopel. All players at the camp are eligible to make the U-20 WNT roster for the World Cup in France this August.
During her freshman season at Michigan, Beall appeared in seven matches with six starts, including starts against three ranked opponents -- No. 11 South Carolina, No. 17 Wake Forest and No. 14 Penn State. She recorded 31 saves, 1.2 shutouts and a goals-against average of 0.96. Beall missed the final three games of the season due to injury but is back to full strength with the Wolverines and ready to compete at the U-19 camp.
Beall has been in the Youth and Women's National Team pools since she was 14. She has participated in several U-20 and U-19 camps over the past year. She was last invited to camp with the U-20 WNT in November 2017 but was unable to attend due to injury. The 5-foot-11 keeper represented the U.S. at the 2016 U-17 World Cup and played with the U-19 WNT in Prague, Czech Republic, in June 2017.
