ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- With a sprinters-only crew having already opened up the 2018 outdoor season last weekend, the national No. 18-ranked University of Michigan women's track and field team will begin the spring campaign in earnest at the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge at Arizona State's Sun Angel Stadium on Friday and Saturday (March 23-24).
Michigan's distance runners, jumpers and throwers will team up with their sprinter teammates for the first time this year as the Wolverines will field its fullest squad of the outdoor season to date -- 28 women, including All-Americans Jade Harrison, Aaron Howell, Jamie Morrissey and Haley Meier -- against a field that includes Indiana, No. 16 Nebraska and Penn State from the Big Ten, and No. 14 Arizona State, California and No. 15 Colorado from the Pac-12. The SEC will also be represented by No. 9 LSU.
The two-day invitational will feature a limited field event program on Friday with the hammer and javelin throws, which kicks off for the women with the hammer at 1 p.m. MST, and a Saturday schedule with a more complete complement of both track events and field events. Saturday's action for Michigan will begin in the field with the high jump at 4:30 p.m. MST on the track with the 100-meter hurdles at 5:15 p.m. MST.
A full list of Wolverines slated to compete, including their events and their scheduled event times, can be found below.
Live results for the meet will become available from Arizona State as the meet approaches, and fans can follow the latest updates directly from the program's official social media channels.

MICHIGAN'S TOP CONTENDERS
• The Michigan mid-distance crew will be strongly represented in Tempe, Arizona, with not only All-American miler Haley Meier and All-Big Ten steeplechaser Claire Borchers making their 2018 outdoor debuts at 1,500 meters, but also All-American Jamie Morrissey suiting up in the Maize and Blue for the first time since finishing 22nd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. All three women scored at last May's Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
• After having a career-best indoor season in the five-event pentathlon, Howell will undergo her first competitions of the spring in preparation for the seven-event heptathlon -- an event in which she is the reigning Big Ten champion. This past indoor season saw her score a significant lifetime best in the shot put, which is the lone event among the four she will contest this weekend that she undertook during the winter. She will also run the 200 meters and the 100-meter hurdles, as well as throw the javelin.
• Harrison made a big impression in her first race of the outdoor season last weekend at Miami (March 17), blazing to a career-best 11.64 (-0.1m/s) over 100 meters. That time has only been topped by five women in Michigan history under any wind condition, and by only three under wind-legal conditions (+2.0m/s wind or less). She also anchored the 4x100 relay team to within two-thirds of a second from the school record, and joined forces with Meghan Marias, Torisa Johnson and Lauren Morgan to clock 45.68 -- just shy of the 45.01 run by Michigan at the 1998 Big Ten Championships.
• After climbing up the all-time U-M indoor list in the weight throw to No. 3 in 2018, Courtney Jacobsen will take her first attempt of the spring at moving from No. 2 to No. 1 in school history in the hammer throw. Jacobsen's first outdoor collegiate competition came at this very meet one year ago as she tossed 59.64m (195 feet, 8 inches) to move within 110 centimeters of the U-M record 60.74m (199-3) posted by April Phillips in 2003.
