ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- A quartet from the University of Michigan women's track and field team will gear up for making a run at the postseason when they compete Friday and Saturday (April 13-14) at the Texas Invitational.
Hammer thrower Courtney Jacobsen, sprinter Meghan Marias, pole vaulter Sarah Uhlian and high jumper Katt Miner will make the trip to Austin to make their push toward success in the Big Ten postseason and qualifying for the NCAA East Prelims.
For more on the NCAA East Prelims qualifying process and where the Wolverines stand at present, see the "Michigan in the NCAA East Prelims Rankings" section below.
The Michigan quartet will compete against a field of teams that includes host Texas, Texas State, McNeese State, UTSA, UTEP, Stephen F. Austin, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Houston, Princeton, Baylor and UT-Arlington.
Jacobsen will kick things off for the Wolverines on Friday at 10 a.m. CDT as she looks to match her career-best 59.64m (195 feet, 8 inches) mark from this stadium at last year's Longhorn Invitational. Ranked No. 2 in Michigan history in the hammer, Jacobsen is coming off a season's best 58.47m (191-10) mark at Duke last weekend and is aiming to close in on the 60.74m (199-3) school record posted by April Phillips in 2003.
Marias will compete in the first of two events on Friday, when she runs the 200 at 6:30 p.m. CDT. Marias, who has been an instrumental leg on the Wolverines' 4x100 relay that is now ranked No. 2 in school history just two-tenths of a second from the school record, will compete at 100 meters Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Coming off a season's best 11.98 over 100 meters at Duke, albeit slightly wind-aided with a 2.1m/s tailwind.
After cracking the 13-feet barrier in the pole vault this winter in a ninth-place Big Ten Championships finish, Uhlian is looking to replicate that feat outdoors. The third-ranked outdoor pole vaulter in Michigan history opened her spring campaign at Duke with a 3.67m (12-0.5) clearance for sixth. The pole vault is split between "A" and "B" sections that take place Saturday and Friday, respectively. The start lists have not yet been announced, meaning she could compete either day.
Miner will look to get rolling in the high jump Saturday at 2 p.m. after starting off her spring with 1.65m (5-5) and 1.63m (5-4.25) efforts in her first two meets.
Live results for the meet will be available from Primetime Timing as the meet approaches, and fans can always follow the latest updates directly from the program's official social media channels.

MICHIGAN IN THE NCAA EAST RANKINGS
Listed below are all the Wolverine women who are ranked among the top-48 individuals in their respective events. Why top-48? That is the cutoff for qualifying to the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds in Tampa, Florida, next month. The NCAA East Prelims serve as the gateway to qualifying for June's NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Michigan currently has 10 entries positioned within qualifying range, which would equal last year's count of competitors at the NCAA East Prelims.
Notably absent from this is the expected debut of Erin Finn in events contested at the NCAA Championships (5,000 and 10,000 meters), as well as anticipated delayed outdoor debuts from multi-time All-American Gina Sereno and national champion Jaimie Phelan. Also not factored into the list below are Big Ten champions Claire Kieffer-Wright (high jump) and Aaron Howell (heptathlon), who have not yet competed in their primary events this spring.
Athletes ranked top-15 in their events are near-locks to advance to the NCAA East Prelims. Those ranked from that cutoff through No. 30 are on the fence of advancing at this point, as marks will continue improving around the nation as the spring progresses, but they would be best served to improve their mark to secure a spot. From there through No. 48, an improved mark will be required to hold on to their top-48 positioning.
