ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 12-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team (17-4, 6-2 B1G) will return home for two Big Ten Conference matches this weekend. U-M will host Iowa (14-13, 3-6 B1G) on Saturday and Nebraska (10-12, 0-9 B1G) on Sunday, when the seniors will be honored prior to the match.
Following Sunday's match, the Wolverines will be hosting a free youth clinic open to children in 8th grade and under. All skill levels welcome. If you are interested in signing up for the clinic, please fill out this form by Thursday, April 19. For any questions, please contact Jaclyn Crummey at jcrummey@umich.edu.
• With the win over Wisconsin, Michigan improves to 17-0 when facing teams outside of the top 10.
• For the third consecutive season, U-M has been dominant at the Varsity Tennis Center. Since the 2015-16 season, the Wolverines are 33-3 on their home court. A win on Saturday would give the program its third straight season with at least 10 wins at home.
• Iowa is just 2-8 in matches played away from home. In conference road matches, the Hawkeyes are 0-3.
• The Hawkeyes are seeking their 10th win in the all-time series against Michigan. The Maize and Blue currently holds a 52-9 lead in the series. U-M has won the previous three matches, including last season's 5-2 victory on the road.
• Nebraska is the only team in the Big Ten Conference without a win in conference play. The program has not finished .500 or better against Big Ten opponents since joining the conference in the 2011-12 season.
• Sunday will be the eighth time in history that Michigan and Nebraska have faced each other in men's tennis. Michigan has won six of the previous seven matchups, with the Cornhuskers' lone win coming in 2015.
• Neither team that Michigan will compete against this weekend has an Intercollegiate Tennis Association-ranked player.
• Michigan senior Davis Crocker is now 10-4 in dual-match singles contests this season. Crocker defeated Wisconsin's Robert Krill in straight sets last Friday (April 13) playing in the No. 6 singles position in Coach Adam Steinberg's lineup.
• If the Wolverines win their remaining three regular-season matchups this season, they will finish no worse than third in the Big Ten. This would be the program's third straight season finishing top three in the conference and the first time since 1994-96 that it has accomplished the feat.
NCAA RULES
Each team match will be a contest for the best of seven team points. Doubles action will begin immediately with no warmup, so fans are encouraged to arrive on time for matches. In addition, each doubles match will be one set to six, with a tiebreaker occurring at 6-all. The team that wins two-of-three matches will secure the doubles point. Following a five-minute intermission, singles action will begin with each match worth one point towards the team score. There will be no-ad scoring in both singles and doubles action. In addition, there is to be no noise made between first and second serves this season as part of new ITA sportsmanship guidelines.
