INDIANAPOLIS -- Junior Kate Fahey of the University of Michigan women's tennis team earned her second straight bid into the NCAA Singles Championship, as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday (May 2). It marks the 11th straight season that U-M has had a singles participant.
Fahey is ranked No. 31 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with a 27-8 overall singles record. She is 18-3 in dual matches, playing exclusively at No. 1. She went 9-2 in Big Ten action over the regular season and went 2-1 at the Big Ten Tournament to help U-M capture its second tournament title in the past four seasons.
In last season's NCAA Singles Championship, Fahey reached the quarterfinals of the event before falling to Miami's Estella Perez-Somarriba. She earned ITA All-America honors a year ago for her efforts in the tournament.
The singles draw will be announced at a later date.
