
Men's Swimming and Diving Add Two More Freshmen for 2018-19

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head swimming and diving coach Mike Bottom announced Wednesday (May 30) the additions of freshmen Eric Storms (Madison, Wisconsin) and Bora Unalmis (Kingwood, Texas) to the team's 2018-19 roster.
"We love the potential that both of these guys have," said Bottom. "Eric provides a great option for us in the backstroke, while Bora has the ability to swim multiple events at a high level. They're great students and team-first guys, and their additions to our class will bring us closer to a championship."
Backstroke | Madison, Wis. (Monona Grove High School/Madison Aquatic Club)
Specializing in backstroke, Storms is a three-time WIAA Boys Division 2 State champion in the 100-yard backstroke, winning the last of his three titles this past February. He won two more titles on relays, leading off the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay, and was runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly. At the Wisconsin Swimming 13 & Over State SCY Championships, he was a six-time finalist, winning a silver in the 100-yard backstroke and bronze in the 100-yard breaststroke. Storms is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Freestyle/Backstroke | Kingwood, Texas (Kingwood High School/Blue Tide Aquatics)
A versatile swimmer, Unalmis primarily specializes in the backstroke and freestyle events, but can also swim distance. He was a two-time finalist for Kingwood High School at the 2018 Texas 6A State Championships, finishing third in the 500-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke. He was also the 6A Region 6 champion in both events. Unalmis is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and NISCA All-American.

Storms and Unalmis join AJ Bornstein, Andrew Babyak, David Cleason, Ian Miskelley, Jared Daigle, Jeremie Luong, Mason Hunter, Michael MacGillivray, Patrick Callan and Will Chan in the team's incoming freshman class.
