
Franklin Named to NCBWA Freshman All-America Second Team

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- University of Michigan baseball freshman infielder Jesse Franklin garnered his second national honor on Monday (June 11) as he was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-America second team. The national award is his second in as many weeks.
A native of Seattle, Washington, Franklin led the Wolverines with 10 home runs and 47 RBI on the season, which ranked in the top 10 in the Big Ten Conference. Over 47 games played, he posted a .327 batting average and a team-best .588 slugging percentage to go with a .379 on-base percentage. He finished second on the team with 54 hits and totaled 11 doubles and a triple along with a team-leading seven sacrifice flies, as well as four stolen bases.
Last week, Franklin was named a Collegiate Baseball News Freshman All-American. He also wrapped up his freshman season with a unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten Conference freshman team. He is a Big Ten Player of the Week award winner as well as a three-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week honoree.
