
Clementi, Engelmann Named to Mideast-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Two members of the University of Michigan baseball team garnered ABCA/Rawlings All-Mideast Region honors, the organization announced Wednesday (June 13). Sophomore designated hitter Dominic Clementi was a first team selection, while junior outfielder and recent MLB Draft selection Jonathan Engelmann earned a spot on the second team.
Clementi and Engelmann also earned selections to the All-Big Ten Conference first team at the close of the 2018 campaign.
In his breakout season with the Wolverines, Clementi led Michigan with a .368 batting average in 44 games played. The sophomore designated hitter also led the Wolverines with a .485 on-base percentage and finished second on the team with a .574 slugging percentage. A native of Arrowhead, Wisconsin, Clementi capped off the year with six doubles, five triples, four home runs and a team-best 29 walks.
An outfielder from San Mateo, California, Engelmann was the only Wolverine to start all 54 games for the Wolverines during the 2018 season. From his position in center field, the junior posted a .974 fielding percentage and led all outfielders with 109 putouts. At the plate, he finished second on the team with a .351 batting average and led the Maize and Blue with 74 hits, 43 runs scored and 14 doubles. He was named the Big Ten Player of the Week twice last season.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-Americans will be announced on Saturday, June 16.
