Wolverines Add Home Game against Detroit Mercy to Fall Slate

Update: Michigan has added a home exhibition game against Detroit Mercy to its 2018 fall schedule; U-M and UDM will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 at Alumni Field.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan softball team will play a six-game fall exhibition schedule, highlighted by a home-and-home series against intrastate rival Michigan State. The home game against MSU -- the lone home game of the fall schedule -- is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field.
The four-team field at the 24th annual Traverse City College Tournament (Sept. 29-30) consists of Michigan, Central Michigan, Detroit Mercy and Western Michigan, with all four teams facing one another in a round-robin format followed by championship and consolation games. All games will be held at Traverse City West High School. Tickets are $3 for each day at the tournament and available at the gate.
The Wolverines will also play their annual home-and-home fall series against MSU, hosting the Spartans on Wednesday, Oct. 3, for a 5 p.m. slate at Alumni Field, before wrapping fall competition a week later, on Wednesday, Oct. 10, with a 4 p.m. road matchup at Secchia Stadium in East Lansing, Michigan. Admission is free for both Michigan-Michigan State fall games.
The fall slate provides U-M softball fans their first opportunity to view the 2019 Wolverine lineup that features 15 returning letterwinners and a talented six-member freshman class that combined for 19 all-state accolades and includes four nationally ranked prospects.
Among Michigan's returning players are six starting field players and two starting pitchers, including a pair of NFCA All-Americans, sophomore left-handed pitcher Meghan Beaubien and senior second baseman Faith Canfield, and All-Region honorees, senior catcher Katie Alexander and junior third baseman Madison Uden.
