
Michigan to End Road Swing at No. 22 Iowa

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (11-6, 2-3 Big Ten) will wrap up a two-game swing on Thursday (Jan. 17), traveling to Iowa to take on the No. 22-ranked Hawkeyes (12-4, 3-2 Big Ten) at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. CST and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
• Michigan will square off against its seventh top-25 opponent of the season when it takes on No. 22 Iowa. Michigan is 2-4 against ranked teams this season, picking up wins over No. 12 Minnesota and No. 21 Missouri. All but one of those games has been away from Crisler Center.
• Michigan has had quite the schedule to open Big Ten play, with Thursday's game at Iowa marking U-M's fourth road contest over its first six Big Ten games. The Wolverines are also in a tough stretch to end January, as the Wolverines are in the midst of playing at No. 9 Maryland, at No. 22 Iowa, vs. Ohio State, at No. 25 Indiana, vs. No. 17 Michigan State and vs. No. 22 Iowa again. The Big Ten features six teams ranked in the top 25 this week.
• Sophomore Hailey Brown has upped her game since Big Ten play began, averaging 10.2 points per game on 54.3 percent shooting in Michigan's five Big Ten games. Brown has scored in double figures three times and is grabbing 4.4 boards in 29.4 minutes per game. She also leads Michigan in three-pointers made during Big Ten action, nailing eight from behind the arc.
• Michigan has made an impact on the boards this season, ranking second in the conference in rebounding margin at plus-11.1. U-M outrebounded Maryland on Saturday (Jan. 12), 43-41, marking the first time all season that the Terps had been beaten on the glass. Michigan is grabbing 42.7 rebounds per game, while yielding 31.6 rebounds per contest to its opponent. U-M leads the conference in defensive rebound percentage, grabbing 74.5 percent of its opponent's misses.
• No. 22 Iowa (12-4, 3-2 Big Ten is coming off an 81-63 win at Minnesota on Monday (Jan. 14). The Hawkeyes feature four players scoring in double figures in Megan Gustafson (26.4 ppg), Hannah Stewart (12.7 ppg), Kathleen Doyle (11.7 ppg) and Tania Davis (10.9 ppg). Iowa is averaging 80.6 points per contest on 51.2 percent shooting, while allowing 68.9 points per game on 40.2 percent shooting.
• Michigan has been balanced offensively this season, with six different players leading Michigan in scoring through 17 games. On the season, U-M has three players in double figures in Hallie Thome (13.6 ppg), Naz Hillmon (11.5 ppg) and Nicole Munger (10.6 ppg). In addition, three more players are averaging at least 7.6 ppg in Deja Church (9.1 ppg), Amy Dilk (7.8 ppg) and Hailey Brown (7.6 ppg).
