
Star Wars Day Sets Up Battle with No. 21 Indiana at Crisler Center

The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan men's basketball team will host No. 21 Indiana on Sunday (Jan. 6) at a sold-out Crisler Center. With a 4:40 p.m. tipoff, the game will be broadcast on CBS with Spero Dedes and Clark Kellogg on the call.
A Little Bit About #21/22 Indiana
• Indiana heads to Ann Arbor with a 12-2 overall record and a 3-0 Big Ten mark. After closing the non-conference schedule with a 94-64 win over Jacksonville (Dec. 22), the Hoosiers had 12 days off before restarting Big Ten play against Illinois (Jan. 3) -- a 73-65 win.
• In Indiana's two early December conference games, the Hoosiers held on for a pair of last-possession wins -- a 68-66 win against Northwestern (Dec. 1) and a 64-62 victory at Penn State (Dec. 4).
• Indiana is led by freshman guard Romeo Langford, who paces the team with 18.3 points per games, while adding 5.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 block per game while shooting 51.1 percent from the field.Â
• Senior forward Juwan Morgan is averaging 16.1 points and a team-best 7.8 rebounds per contest -- including 29 offensive rebounds (2.1 per game), while shooting nearly 70 percent from the field (67.6%). He is second on the Hoosiers with 14 3-pointers and 38 assists (2.7 apg).
• Indiana leads the Big Ten in field-goal percentage (52.6 percent), which ranks second nationally behind Gonzaga (53.4 percent).
• The Hoosiers have played five games decided by three point or fewer, going 4-1 in those contests – wins against Northwestern (68-66), at Penn State (64-62), Louisville (68-67) and Butler (71-68) and a loss at Arkansas (73-72).
• Indiana is led by second-year head coach Archie Miller. Prior to arriving in Bloomington, Miller spent six seasons as the head coach at Dayton, leading the Flyers five 20-plus win seasons and four straight NCAA appearances (2014-17).
The All-Time Series with the Hoosiers
• Sunday's game is the 168th all-time meeting between Michigan and Indiana.• The Wolverines trail 106-61, in the all-time series with the Hoosiers, but U-M has won the last four.
• U-M holds a 46-38 record in Ann Arbor and has won the last two at Crisler Center.
• Sunday's game marks the 27th time both teams will face each other when ranked in the top 25. U-M has compiled a 9-17 record against IU when both teams are in the national polls.
• There have been 43 games in the series decided by three points or fewer, with U-M trailing 27-16. The last time a game was decided by fewer than three points was when U-M knocked off No. 1 seed IU in the 2016 Big Ten Tournament. With the game tied at 69, U-M's Kam Chatman made a last second three-pointer off a Derrick Walton Jr. pass to earn the upset win.
• There have been eight overtime games, with each team winning four. The last time there was an extra period was a 72-66 OT win by U-M at Indiana (Jan. 7, 2009), when the Wolverines overcame a 20-point deficit to pull off a comeback win for just the 13th time in Bloomington.
• U-M head coach John Beilein holds a 9-9 record against Indiana.
What to Watch For
• Jordan Poole has scored in double figures in nine straight games and in 10 of his last 11.
• Ignas Brazdeikis posted his first double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds) against Penn State.
• Isaiah Livers missed the Penn State game due to back spasms. After an MRI exam revealed no warnings of injury, his status for Indiana will be a gameday decision.
• Zavier Simpson has five assists or more in 13 games and leads U-M with 6.1 per game.
• All five Wolverine starters made a three-pointer against Penn State for the first time this season.
• Sunday's game will mark the eighth straight sellout at Crisler Center (12,707).

• Michigan has a second best defensive efficiency rating according to Ken Pom.
• U-M opponents are scoring 55.1 points per game, the third lowest in the country.
• Michigan has held an opponent to 30 points or fewer in 19 of 28 halves.
